This coming February will mark my ninth year with the Alumni Association, and for the ninth year in a row (indeed, for years before that!) I can enthusiastically write: It’s an exciting time for the Alumni Association and Wichita State.
For one thing, we’re all still on top of the world about our Shocker basketball teams’ amazing success last season. It was a season of firsts for our women’s team, including a first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament, and our men’s team went to the Final Four for the first time in 48 years.
The campus is ringing with the sounds of construction for the new Rhatigan Student Center and student housing. Local, national and global media sources feature news about the innovative research, entrepreneurial endeavors and creative pursuits of both Wichita State faculty and alumni. Our alma mater has an ambitious and inspiring strategic plan for the future.
As we look back with pride on our collective history and heritage in celebration of the centennial of the founding of the Alumni Association during this year of 2013, it is also the very best time to come together to keep the momentum going, to come together to Share the Pride.
I encourage you to Share the Pride by becoming more involved with your Alumni Association. We have so many programs and events that could use your help! I invite you to Share the Pride by making a Centennial Gift donation, to celebrate not only our Shocker past, but our Shocker future.
