Core Group.

Members of Shockers Forever, the alumni association’s student group, debuted their Dine with an Alum event on Oct. 24 at the Woodman Alumni Center.

“Dine with an Alum was a fantastic opportunity to hear the stories and goals of both alumni and current students in a relaxed, comfortable setting,” relates Margaret Ussery, president of Shockers Forever.

Alaina Bush, the group’s vice president of traditions, says, “The event was unique in that it provided students the chance to speak with alumni, as well as students they may not have met otherwise, in an intimate environment.”

And Margy Long, a Core Group member of Shockers Forever, has this take on Dine with an Alum: “This event provided a great experience for Shockers Forever members to showcase their true ambitions and network with our great alumni. I can only hope this event continues to grow.” Alumni who participated in the student organization’s premier Dine with an Alum event were Becky Ediger ’76, Mason McCanless ’13, Darryl Carrington, Debbie Kennedy ’94 and Meagan Tice ’12.

From the President and CEO

This coming February will mark my ninth year with the Alumni Association, and for the ninth year in a row (indeed, for years before that!) I can enthusiastically write: It’s an exciting time for the Alumni Association and Wichita State.
