New Venue for The Bash

The Bash
The A.J. McCausland Band and Blue Eyed Soul, pictured on stage at the Duerksen Amphitheatre, performed at the We’re Not Back to School Bash on campus Aug. 19.

After four years of being staged at the Woodman Alumni Center’s parking lot, the 5th annual We’re Not Back to School Bash was moved across campus to the Duerksen Amphitheatre.

“Everyone enjoyed the venue,” says Megan Ensley ’10, alumni association director of student and young alumni relations who coordinated the event. “We had a righteous time!”

Invited to bring their own lawn chairs and “turn back time” to the 1980s, some 150 bash-goers enjoyed music by two popular Wichita bands, the A.J. McCausland Band and Blue Eyed Soul, plus loads of food and drink. The fun continued with an after-Bash party, complete with karaoke contest, at Larry Bud’s Sports Bar & Grill.

Joining Larry Bud’s as Bash sponsors were Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, House of Schwan, Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches, KZCH 96.3 FM, QuikTrip and Valley Offset Printing.
