The first of five featured presenters in the 2011-12 WSU Distinguished Alumni Speaker Series are Carol (McAdoo) ’72 and Norman ’73 Rehme, who will take the morning stage Thursday, Oct. 20 in the Rhatigan Student Center.

This year’s Elliott School of Communication Outstanding Alumni Award honorees, the Rehmes, who live in Loveland, Colo., are active in advocating for the arts. Carol is an award-winning author and speaker who has written or edited more than a dozen inspirational books and numerous short stories. Norman is a nationally recognized, certified master photographer with 42 years of experience.

Bob Scott ’60, executive director of Chamber Music at the Barn at Prairie Pines in Maize, Kan., is slated second in the series with a Tuesday, Dec. 6 presentation at the Marcus Welcome Center. In 1997, the former high school choral music teacher and bass soloist teamed up with an artistic director to develop Chamber Music at the Barn.

The Hon. Scott Stucky ’70, who is set to speak at the Marcus Welcome Center Thursday, Jan. 31, 2012, was appointed by President George W. Bush to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces in 2006. After graduation from WSU and then, in 1973, from Harvard Law School, Stucky was admitted to the Kansas bar and went on active duty as a judge advocate in the Air Force, serving in San Antonio; U-Tapao, Thailand; and Syracuse, N.Y. He posted impressive career advances in the Air Force, retiring as a colonel in 2003 – the year he was awarded the Legion of Merit for outstanding service.

Completing the 2011-12 series will be members of the 1964-65 Final Four Shocker basketball team, who will be featured during a Tuesday, March 6, 2012 panel discussion, at the Marcus Welcome Center, and Beth Tully ’76, owner of the Wichita-based Cocoa Dolce Artisan Chocolates, who is scheduled for Friday, April 27, 2012 at the RSC Ballroom.

All Rise & Shine series events begin at 7:30 a.m. with a breakfast buffet. Speaker presentations get under way at 8 a.m. and are followed by a Q&A period.
