Tyler Heffron ’02, who’s a native of Wellington, Kan., began his year-long post as president of the WSU Alumni Association July 1, taking up the gavel from Steve Cohlmia ’74.
“As president, I hope to maintain the high-quality programs and services the alumni association provides to the WSU community and undertake an endeavor to re-energize efforts to increase dues-paying members,” Heffron says, as among his key presidential goals.
A Wichita State summa cum laude graduate in communication-integrated marketing, he also is a 2005 grad of the University of Kansas School of Law and an attorney with the Wichita law firm of Triplett, Woolf & Garretson LLC, where he focuses on general civil litigation with an emphasis in business litigation, insurance defense litigation, creditors’ rights and oil and gas litigation. He has experience in state and federal courts and has handled cases in front of Kansas appellate courts, including presentation of oral arguments to the Kansas Supreme Court.
An active Shocker, Heffron was a member of Phi Delta Theta and involved in a variety of Greek endeavors during his student years. He also helped lead the successful effort to re-establish the alumni association’s Student Alumni Association and served as SAA president for two years. He is married to another Shocker, Jenni (Glasgow) Heffron ’05, and they have a 9-month-old son, Benjamin.
Joining Heffron on the board as new members are Rachel Allen ’01, an accounting professional; Holly Dyer ’88, partner with the law firm of Foulston & Siefken LLP; Joe Hand ’99, a general manager at Koch Industries; Adam McCollough ’97, owner of The Butler Group; Darren Muci ’84, operations division director at Wichita public schools; Mindy McPheeters ’96, in-house counsel at Delta Dental of Kansas; Beth Tully ’76, owner of Cocoa Dolce Artisan Chocolates; and ex officio member Brad Elliott, chairman and CEO of Equity Bank in Andover, Kan., who is the current president of SASO – all of Wichita.
