Leading Edge

Dave Dahl and Kathy Sexton
Dave Dahl, president-elect, and Kathy Sexton, 2004-05
president, are at the leading edge of alumni affairs.

Back in 1913, Harry Shuler ’13/30 was the first Shocker graduate to take up the challenge of serving his university as alumni association president.

For the 2004-05 year, Kathleen B. "Kathy" (Bradshaw) Sexton ’88/89/92 will step into the role as the association’s 75th president, while David L. "Dave" Dahl ’71/74, president-elect, will serve in 2005-06.

As executive officers of the WSU Alumni Association, which is governed by a 37-member board of directors, Sexton and Dahl serve an alumni population of some 68,000, of which approximately 6,000 are dues-paying association members.

Sexton and Dahl are both successful professionals. Sexton is assistant county manager and chief information officer for Sedgwick County. Dahl, a former standout Shocker basketball player who for years has offered color commentary for radio broadcasts of WSU home games, is an attorney with the Wichita-based firm of Johnson, Kennedy, Dahl & Willis.

Joining Sexton and Dahl on the association’s Executive Committee for 2004-05 are Trish Brasted ’96, who will serve as vice president of finance/secretary-treasurer; Ross Hollander ’73, vice president of alumni programs; Steve Boleski ’85, vice president of development programs; Joe Palacioz ’71/76, vice president of university programs; Bryan Frye ’87/88, vice president of membership and volunteer recruitment; and Terri Moses ’80/90, immediate past president.

Director's Corner

We should show the pride we feel as Shockers to everyone we come in contact with — to proudly announce: "I Am Wichita State!"

President's Corner

Vision, by definition, means “a mental image produced by the imagination.” In the past several months, I have found that the imaginations of Wichita State University alumni, WSU Alumni Association staff and WSU faculty and staff are vivid and full of passion for Wichita State.
