Wichita State has been a part of my life – all my life. So I’m thrilled to be serving the university and its alumni as board chair of the WSUAA. I was born and raised in Wichita, and my dad, Cecil Carrier, a TV and radio meteorologist, taught meteorology classes at WSU. I remember coming to campus when I was little for football games and other Shocker sports events. Although I didn’t attend Wichita State, WSU is important to me and my family because it’s such an important cultural and economic driver for not only our city, but our region, and beyond.
Professionally, I followed in my dad’s footsteps. I have 30 years of experience in radio in Wichita. I’m a morning co-host on 100.5 HANK FM and also do weather for stations around the state. I’m also the proud mom of four. Cody, Brandon, Caitlin and Lindsey are all college graduates. Although Lindsey is the only WSU grad, I’d say we’re all Shockers at heart!
One of my priority goals as WSUAA board chair is to broaden our “alumni” outreach. I want to make sure that absolutely everyone who has an interest in and love of WSU knows that they can be part of this great university through its alumni association – whether they graduated from this institution of higher education or not. In fact, you don’t even need to have taken a single class to become a member of the WSUAA, which is the largest network of Shockers in the world.
Since this magazine is a benefit of membership in the WSUAA, I’m talking to a group of Shockers who already get the importance of participating and belonging to our alumni organization. Thank you for being a member – and please join me in broadening our “Shocker” outreach by asking others to join us as members of the WSUAA!
