WSU Alumni Travelers Cruise in Style

Alumni travels create good times together

BY CONNIE KACHEL WHITE

Wichita State alumni and university friends have been making memories and posting travel adventures together on WSU Alumni Association-hosted excursions for decades. The most recent was this fall on an “Adriatic Rhapsody” cruise from Athens, Greece, to Rome, Italy, aboard the Marina.

“This was my first trip overseas as a Shocker traveler,” says Courtney M. Marshall, president and CEO of the WSUAA. “And it was absolutely fantastic. Everything was done first-class. The food was wonderful. The day excursions to places of note were fascinating and educational. We got to experience the breathtaking beauty of Greece and Italy – all with fellow Shockers!”

Among those joining Marshall as Shocker travelers were Glenn Etherington ’77, Danny ’76 and Shari Nicholas, Cheri Hunter, Judy Bolton ’79, Chuck ’80 and Joni Etherington, and Phil ’85 and Sheilah Winters.

The WSUAA partners with trusted travel agencies to offer a variety of great destinations. “Our travel program is open to all Wichita State University alumni and friends,” Marshall says. “Our staff and travel partners attend to all the arrangements, so you can explore and relax, worry-free. When you travel with us, a portion of your tour price will come back to the WSU Alumni Association, which helps to fund student scholarships and alumni programming and activities – all the things we do to connect Shocker alumni and support higher education at Wichita State.”

Designed to promote educational and cultural experiences, the WSUAA’s travel program offers travel packages year-round to just about every location on earth. Upcoming travel opportunities include these:

Sparkling South Pacific, Feb. 3-13, 2018 — This South Pacific cruise starts in Papeete, the capital of French Polynesia in the tropical paradise of Tahiti, and continues to Mooréa, the island of Fakarava, Rangiroa, Bora Bora, Raiatea and Huahine, before returning to Papeete.

Cuban Discovery, March 11-18, 2018 — This travel package features exploration of such historically intriguing locales as Havana, Cienfuegos, Trinidad and Santa Clara.

In addition, there are cruises from Los Angeles to South America (Gateway to Sunshine) and along the Columbia and Snake Rivers in the Pacific Northwest (Passage of Lewis & Clark). For details and a complete listing of Shocker travel opportunities, please visit online at ShockerAlumni.org.
